Huh. Who knew there was a Golden Age version of Batman Beyond?
Technically, nobody knew that.
Because I’m lying.
But that mock-up cover by Daniel Dahl is still pretty sweet-lookin’. I stumbled across it earlier this week while trolling for pictures of characters who tried to replace Batman for my review of Tom King’s run on the book, and it caught my eye, so I thought I’d share.
I traced it to a piece on Golden Age versions of modern characters over at Comic Book Resources, which can be read in its entirety here: http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2015/05/29/the-line-it-is-drawn-242-golden-age-versions-of-modern-superheroes/ . There’s some funny stuff at that link (I especially like the Golden Age Midnighter and Apollo), but Dahl’s Batman Beyond really stood out for me. I like the faux-aging on the cover, and the sharp design work all the way around. Nice work!
