Lovecraft via Seuss

As we all know, the interwebs are filled with many wondrous and interesting things. But they're also filled with awful, squamous things that man was not meant to know (insert your own link to goatse here -- who do you think I am, Warren Ellis?). Well, tonight we bring you something that's got both bases covered. Over on DeviantArt, an artist with the handle Dr. Faustus AU is doing his own adaptation of HP Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu" in the style of Dr. Seuss. I know, right? HEH. This is one of those "too brilliant to be real" kinds of things, but no. As I write, he's 43 pages into this thing, and up to the scene where Cthulhu slides greasily into the water in pursuit of the good ship Alert. This immediately hit the top of my list of "websites to rabidly check for updates," but if you're not quite sold on it yet, here are a couple of sample pages:

It’s beautiful stuff, really. I especially like that he managed to rhyme “ftagn.” That Seussian telescope is pretty great, too, and it also manages somehow to have a touch of Lovecraft’s many-dimensioned horror about it. This is very nice work, and something I hope the artist manages to get into print someday. I know I’d buy a copy, anyway…

Oh, and again: That’s Dr. Faustus AU at Deviantart: http://drfaustusau.deviantart.com/gallery/32992770

Go check it out. You will not be disappointed.
